Spirithouse

PETE SCHULTE
Spirithouse, installation, 2008

Pete Schulte received a BFA from the University of Iowa in 1996. He will receive his MFA in 2008, also from the University of Iowa.

Of his work, Schulte writes, "I work in a studio.  It is known as Raum 214. There I draw, install, assemble and arrange.  I also host non-events called social-inactions.  People gather for song, dance, drink, and conversation.    This particular piece is called Spirithouse.  It is inspired by and dedicated to Sun Ra.  In a general sense it is about finding hope in the hopeless, light in the dark, and meaning in the meaningless."

"If you came from nowhere here, why can't you go somewhere there?" Sun Ra
