Iowa Writes

PAULENE ASPEL
A Nuptual Song

I love you on vivid dawns that hop out of the haze.
I love you at dusk when scarves in the sky trace blue lines of praise.
Love you whenever Time pours on us its powers
gleeful, auric. . . and granting serene hours. . .

—Sea, air? Where is this lovely place, said Millie?
—In the Heartland, my dear. 'Tis where our wedding will be.
