Dan Perry was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1979.  He has exhibited his artwork across the country in galleries located in Illinois, Texas, Tennessee, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa.  Notable regional venues include the Des Moines Art Center, Sioux City Art Center, 1301 Gallery in Omaha, and The Tug Boat Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Dan is currently the Art Studio Technician and an Instructor at the University of Northern Iowa.

Dan has recently exhibited his work in outdoor sculpture exhibitions in Dubuque, Iowa and Champaign, Illinois and he has completed public commissions for the University of Northern Iowa, Red Rock Arabian Stables, and the Iowa River Landing in Coralville, Iowa.

Dan writes this about his art:

"The imagery in my work is an amalgamation of candid recollections and fabricated realities constructed in the guise of toys, props, architecture, and machines, presented on various proscenia.  My sculptures are composed in ways that imply a narrative to which the viewer becomes a witness.  Shifts in scale and perspective challenge the viewer to question their physical relationship to the world around them."

Stanchion was installed at the Port of Dubuque through summer 2013 as part of the Art on the River exhibition in Dubuque, Iowa.
