Leslie was a military child and was born and raised overseas.  She graduated from Osan Air Base, South Korea and went on to get her Bachelors of Science in Graphic Design at Wayne State College in 2012.  She earned her MA (2014) and MFA (2015) in Graphic Design from the University of Iowa.  She writes, "I wanted to be a designer since I was sixteen years old and have dedicated myself in not only the technical craft of design but also the theoretical aspect of design."

About the artist's work:

"My work is a combination of research and experimentation in the design field.  I explored a relatively new term called temporal typography, which is digital kinetic type, to help aid in comprehension and expression.  I created four animated typefaces based on the four basic human emotions.  I am interested in the expression kinetic type can bring to visual communication, and as such, keeping the theme of emotion and animating more than 120 letterforms allowed me to study and explore different types of motion as well as the expression they can bring."
