Iowa Writes

SUZANNE ARAAS VESELY

First meditation:
mantra whispered
In one soft breath, then silently
its wake
like a mighty wind
carries me through
all that darkness,
all those wrong turns
in the 60's,
gently,
without any effort:
watching,
transported,
arriving
 whole,
beyond words, beyond laughter, beyond tears.
A kingdom sought, frequently in vain,
by the wise of old.
I knew this much:
it was my first miracle,
with many more to come.
The only hard thing:
seeing others struggle.
Listen: infinity
Is only a breath away.
